Next playgroup, 31 May 2011 Outing

Hi everyone

Thanks for the yummy food everyone brought and I hope you enjoyed the craft activity. I have put some photos up on the blog, as well as instructions on how to make the paper beads, which you can find here.

Next playgroup

The next playgroup on 31 May will be an outing. We'll be going to South Bank to check out the new Picnic Island playground that was built. The Picnic Island playground and green are on the Maritime Museum end of the South Bank Parklands, and we'll meet from 9.30 am onwards.

You can find a map of the parklands and the location of the area we'll be meeting at below.

Making necklaces

Here are a few photos from the necklace-making craft last playgroup. I've put some instructions on how to make the beads below.

To make the beads:

Take a colourful piece of paper such as a magazine cover and use a ruler to mark out long triangular strips. I've found that triangles with a base of 2 cm on an A4 page work well.

Cut out the triangles. Use a skewer to roll the triangles into a bead. A small amount of glue applied at the start and the end will keep the paper in place.

Slide the rolled bead off the skewer. Repeat.

Next playgroup, 24 May 2011 Morning Tea

Hi everyone

Happy Birthday to our birthday girl and thank you for bringing cake to playgroup so we could celebrate your birthday together. It looked like everyone had fun; I've put some photos up from the morning on the blog.

I also wanted to thank everyone for chipping-in with clean-up when they can - I really appreciate it and it takes a load off my mind to know that we can manage more involved playgroup sessions together.

Next Playgroup

Because it is a 5-week month, the next playgroup on 24 May will be a shared morning tea with a threading craft. Please bring along a small plate of healthy food to share if you can.

Outing won't be Toddler Tuesday

Unfortunately we won't be able to do the Toddler Tuesday at GoMA this month. The reason is that they won't accept a group booking - what they want is for each caregiver to apply for a session individually (with a generous exception for those members for whom English is a second language/don't have Internet access) - and the organiser was reticent to clearly indicate to me whether we would be able to make it into that same 31 May session if we booked individually at this late date. So. What I will do is find out when the next cycle of bookings can be made, and we will all try to book as early as possible for the very last session in that 8 week cycle. With luck we will be able to book it out for ourselves.

In the meantime, if anyone has a good suggestion for this month's outing, please let me know.

This Weekend? - I have heard that Junction Park Primary will be having a kind of garage sale to sell off excess from the fete. Unfortunately I can't find anything online about it, so if anyone knows the details [E- I'm looking at you :-) ] please feel free to email them out to the list.

Birthday Party!

Last playgroup we had a mini birthday party. Our birthday girl's Mum brought a delicious cake to share. There were three lovely candles to blow out.

We all sang Happy Birthday, which was a little overwhelming :-)

But soon attention was turned to eagerly awaiting to share in some cake ...

... which was eaten with gusto!

Then everyone got busy running about, shouting, and getting ready to go to the Library for Story Time.

Next playgroup, 17 May 2011

Hi Everyone

I've put up a few photos of the cards that were made last playgroup. I was glad they worked despite the contact-windows falling off!

I'm contemplating taking us to Toddler Tuesday on 31 May for the outing. If I could get an indication of numbers I can book that for us.

Finally don't forget that the Junction Park Fete is on this Sunday from 10am.

Next Playgroup

The next playgroup is 17 May, and it will be a special one as Fortune will be bringing cake to share for her birthday. After that we will head up to the Annerley Library for storytime.

Hi Everyone

It was lovely to see everyone back and I trust that you had an enjoyable holiday.

Until the end of the month, Liz Hall will be having an exhibition of her paintings at Annerley Library, and then next month she'll be showing at the West End Library. You can also check out her beautifucl paintings at her website.

Next Playgroup

The next playgroup is Tuesday 10 May, and it's scheduled to be a short craft activity followed by a play at the school's playground. Next week will be special as Fortune is celebrating her 3rd birthday, so we'll have a little cake and sing Happy Birthday to her before heading across.
